Newfield’s recent college hires with technical and scientific skills have come through its college and university recruitment program. Newfield’s Human Resources Department teams with the company’s Engineer and Geologists to annually visit students who are interested in the challenge and excitement of oil and gas exploration. Schools include the Colorado School of Mines, Louisiana State University, Montana Tech, Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma University, Penn State, Texas A&M University, Tulsa University, University of Missouri-Rolla and the University of Texas.
Newfield is a fast-paced environment with a focus on getting the job done. A comprehensive intern program and mentoring system help assure the student’s transition to an energy industry professional at Newfield.
In 2007, the company created a scholarship program as a way for Newfield to ‘give back’ to the universities and colleges in a meaningful way and financially help students attain their educational goals. This scholarship is for deserving students in the fields of Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Geophysics and Energy Management.
Newfield annually funds this scholarship at schools with well established technical/scientific programs. Recipients are made by each school’s scholarship committee.
