Mid-Continent: Operating region that primarily includes Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle. The regions most active producing basins include the Anadarko and Arkoma. Regional headquarters is in Tulsa, Okla.
MMS: Minerals Management Service of the U.S. Department of the Interior.
NFX: The ticker symbol for Newfield Exploration Company's common stock, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

SAFE Award: Presented by the Minerals Management Service (MMS), the SAFE Program recognizes exemplary performance by Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) oil and gas operators and contractors.
